Ever struggled with managing your projects or PMs trying to do so? Well, there is an app\u2026 hmm\u2026 or something different for that.<\/p>\n

Recently I took on the Design Council\u2019s Double Diamond process, \u201crevamped\u201d it, and published it (Link at the end of the post). People have questioned how my approach would relate to \u201creal\u201d project management and projects.<\/p>\n

This follow-up post is about my mash-up approach to answering this. This is not about comparing the HCD process to PM but to overlay the two disciplines in order to gain an understanding when working in an environment where people rely one or the other.<\/p>\n

Revamped Double\u00a0Diamond<\/h2>\n

The Revamped Double Diamond is a design process framework<\/a> based on the Design Council\u2019s (2007) Double Diamond.<\/p>\n

It aims at making sense of the design process and providing guidance and clarity in order to tackle a design challenge. The framework incorporates tools, methods and techniques from various sources to do so (find links to my detailed article at the end of this post).<\/p>\n

Project Management in a\u00a0nutshell<\/h2>\n

\u201cProject management is the application of knowledge, skills, tools, and techniques to project activities to meet the project requirements\u201d (PMI, 2013)<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

I\u2019m not going deeper into PM theory and focus on two major PM \u201cfamilies\u201d\u00a0: \u201cWaterfall\u201d (traditional, sequential) and \u201cagile\u201d.<\/p>\n

One\u2026 wait\u2026 two more things, though:<\/p>\n

When talking about \u201cAgile\u201d I am mainly referring to the mindset and way of thinking rather than one specific method, based on the \u201cManifesto for agile software development\u201d (Beedle et al., 2001)<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The manifesto lists four core values:<\/p>\n
